NEW Epiphone J160E John Lennon acoustic electric guitar for sale in Fredericksburg, Virginia

$400

he John Lennon EJ-160E is Epiphone's knock-off of the venerable Gibson J-160E, the acoustic-electric guitar that John Lennon used on some of the earliest Beatle songs. As most of you know, Epiphone is Gibson's "bargain brand" division, and over the years, Epiphone's guitars have improved in quality to such a degree that the company has quite a following among modern musicians. For the most part, an Epiphone is not going to play or sound as well as the comparable Gibson model, but the gap between the two has lessened quite a bit in the past few years. The John Lennon EJ-160E is a fine example of this improvement in quality, and I came away so impressed with the guitar that I bought a used model for my son.
The John Lennon EJ-160E is different than most other acoustic-electric guitars built today. A mini-humbucker pickup sits over the soundhole at the end of the neck, and the guitar has one volume knob and one tone knob on the top of the guitar. The back and sides are made of flame maple, while the top is solid spruce. The set mahogany neck has a rosewood fingerboard which is adorned with trapezoid block inlays. All of the hardware on this guitar is chrome and the body is bound, while the neck is not. The John Lennon EJ-160E is available in a vintage cherry sunburst finish, and has the easily identifiable Epiphone headstock, along with John Lennon's signature.
